[Riddick knows she's there as soon as she enters the bay. It's a toss up on her being there to watch Carolyn or him, but might be she's managing both - he's capable of it, just as aware of her eyes on him as he is of Carolyn working with the rest of her crew down the other end of the bay. It's never been interesting, but Riddick knew how to let time pass in observation, the important part still having Carolyn in his sights.
He doesn't think Kyra has the same long-built patience - she's reactive, volatile. It's no surprise when his comms pings, but he takes his time setting the wrench down, wiping his hands on a rag before he picks it up. His back is to her, but his voice carries over the empty space between them clear enough.]
Think I picked up tools soon as I landed here?
[He'd marked the shuttlebay, followed the crew's progress in working on the shuttles, but kept himself out in the dark until Carolyn arrived. Hadn't starting working til months after that, his projects far away from the rest of the bay, the rest of the crew knowing not to bother him. Carolyn bothering him whenever she wanted.]
[her voice is quiet; not that it matters much in the silence that stretches between them first. he'll hear because she knows she has his attention, even with that distance. the area is empty because of him, so she doesn't have to worry about any interruptions. they wouldn't dare. shouldn't.]
Think you scoped out this place first. Found out the shuttles aren't going anywhere. So now you're here, fixing one up so you can jump ship the first chance you get.
[He finishes wiping his hands, turning to face her, walking slowly to the edge of the walkway. There's amusement in the tilt of his head, the corners of his mouth, but that was hardly unusual. He stops at the edge, points one hand lazily towards the other end of the bay, where the rest of the crew are working on shuttles.]
